Rotary SSI & Para la Naturaleza

After Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico in 2017, Rotary Clubs of St. Simons Island, Georgia & San Juan, Puerto Rico joined Para la Naturaleza created a project to develop a complete “Farm-to Table infrastructure for long term, economically sustainable, agriculture. It will ensure a permanent and thriving agro-industry in Puerto Rico.”

This Project began with a Global Grant, approved in May of 2019, which by year end will support up to 50 small family farms in Puerto Rico. In February 2020, the project was declared “one of the best (GG projects)” with potential to become a “Rotary Foundation Model Project for Agriculture around the world”, commending “the organization, management, and complete transparency of the project” - and recommended for extension

The Project addresses 4 community needs: Economic, Health, Education, & Food Security.

It is a partnership of Rotary Clubs in Georgia and Puerto Rico with Para La Naturaleza (PLN) which is a 501C3 organization and a leader in environmental conservation and historic preservation in Puerto Rico with fifty years of experience.
